What Is First Aid Response (FAR) Training?

The First Aid Response(FAR) course is a comprehensive three-day training programme accredited by the Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council (PHECC). It is the recognised national standard for occupational first aid training in Ireland, equipping learners with the knowledge, practical skills, and confidence to respond to medical emergencies in the workplace or community.

Upon successful completion of this PHECC FAR course, participants will be able to provide effective life support, manage a range of injuries and illnesses, and ensure the comfort and safety of a patient until the arrival of emergency medical services. FAR training is essential for staff designated as first aiders under health and safety regulations in Ireland.

Who Should Attend FAR Training?

This First Aid Response training course is designed for individuals who are required to act as workplace first aiders or who have an interest in becoming a qualified First Aid Responder. It is suitable for staff in all industries, as well as members of community groups, voluntary organisations, and carers in home settings.

There are no entry requirements for the course, though learners must be physically capable of performing CPR and other hands-on first aid skills. FAR certification is valid for two years and is recognised nationwide under Irish workplace safety legislation.
